'Freakier Friday' Official Teaser Trailer: Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Return

The sequel to 2003’s ‘Freaky Friday’ hits theaters in August, with an intergenerational twist. After 22 years, Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) are about to switch bodies again. ‘Freakier Friday’ Official Teaser Trailer: Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Return. When did Disney release the first official trailer for the long-awaited sequel to 2003’s Freaky Friday? On Friday, of course.

The trailer depicts Lohan and Curtis trading personalities, but this time with a twist that spans across generations.  Anna now has a daughter, Julia Butters, and a soon-to-be stepdaughter, Sophia Hammons.  When lightning strikes again, the next picture, which will be released this summer, has a four-way body exchange. The trailer also included Chad Michael Murray reprising his role as Jake, who appears at the conclusion on his motorcycle. You can see the teaser below.

The official logline reads: “Years after Tess and Anna went through an identity crisis, Anna now has a daughter and a soon-to-be stepdaughter.  Tess and Anna realize that lightning may strike twice as they handle the hurdles that come with the merger of two families.

Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao will return from the 2003 film—butters, Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Maitreyi Ramakrishnan round out the new cast members. Nisha Ganatra directed the film.

Filming concluded in August, and Lohan announced in November that her character’s imaginary band, Pink Slip, will return to perform new music. Freaky Friday was a remake of the 1976 film with the same title, starring Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris.  The 2003 picture was a commercial and critical success, with an 88 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Freakier Friday will be released on August 8 and marks Lohan’s major return to theaters.
