Rajinikanth Delivers Emotional and Hilarious Moments at Coolie Audio Launch in Chennai
Coolie’ Audio Launch in Chennai: Superstar Rajinikanth lit up the stage with his charisma, humor, and heartfelt stories during the grand audio and Coolie Trailer launch of his upcoming film Coolie, held at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on August 2. The event, packed with fans and film industry bigwigs, offered a mix of nostalgia, laughter, and cinematic excitement.
Rajinikanth, known for his gripping stage presence, didn’t disappoint. He had the crowd roaring with laughter as he recalled how he approached director Lokesh Kanagaraj shortly after the release of Kaithi. “I rushed to meet him before other actors got to him. He said he was a Kamal Haasan fan. I said, ‘Did I ask you whose fan you are?’” quipped the star, triggering thunderous applause.
In a tongue-in-cheek segment, Rajinikanth ribbed Lokesh for his lengthy interviews during the promotional rounds. “I saw one that was two hours long! I sat down, paced a bit, even took a nap—and it was still going on!” he laughed, before praising the filmmaker as “the true hero of Coolie.”
While the night was filled with humor, Rajinikanth also struck an emotional chord when he shared a personal memory from his early life. Speaking about his days as a coolie before becoming a bus conductor, he recalled how a former classmate once mocked him after paying him ₹2 to load luggage. “He looked at me and said, ‘Enna aattam aadina da?’ I cried for the first time in my life after that moment,” the actor revealed, leaving the audience moved.
Coolie, slated for release on August 14, features Rajinikanth in the role of Deva, a laborer with a gritty past, as glimpsed in the action-packed trailer. The film also stars Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan, with Aamir Khan making a special appearance.
Interestingly, the film is not part of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) and has received an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board, marking Rajinikanth’s first ‘A’-rated film in over three decades.
Produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Coolie is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated releases of the year thanks to a powerhouse cast, emotionally rich storytelling, and Rajinikanth’s timeless appeal.
