The film was announced in September 2024 with the preliminary title Thalapathy 69 and was officially titled Jana Nayagan in January 2025. The first look poster, which was issued on Republic Day 2025, featured Vijay taking a selfie reminiscent of his popular Neyveli selfie from Master (2020). Another poster, portraying him brandishing a whip and the slogan Naan Aanai Ittaal (a reference to Enga Veettu Pillai’s iconic MGR song), fueled supporters’ excitement.
