VinFast VF6, VF7 Electric SUVs Launched in India at ₹16.49 Lakh

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast has officially stepped into the Indian market with the launch of its first two electric SUVs – the VinFast VF6 and VF7. With prices starting at ₹16.49 lakh (ex-showroom), these EVs promise bold styling, feature-loaded cabins, and performance that could shake up India’s fast-growing electric SUV space.

The VF6 is targeted at compact SUV buyers, while the VF7 plays in the premium midsize SUV segment. Both models come with advanced technology, stylish design, and strong battery packs, aiming to take on rivals like Hyundai, Tata, MG, Mahindra, and even global EV players.

VinFast VF6: The Compact Electric SUV

The VinFast VF6 has been positioned as VinFast’s entry-level offering for India. Despite its competitive pricing, it comes across as a modern, stylish, and tech-rich EV.

Exterior Design

The VF6 follows VinFast’s global design language, with sleek eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs connected by the ‘V’ logo, sharp bumpers, and a sporty stance. The SUV rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, paired with thick body cladding on the wheel arches and lower body for a rugged SUV appeal.

At the rear, the VinFast VF6 features connected LED taillamps, a sculpted bumper, and an integrated roof spoiler. Buyers in India will get to choose from six exterior colours – Infinity Blanc, Crimson Red, Urban Mint, Jet Black, Desat Silver, and Zenith Grey.

Interior & Features

Inside, the VinFast VF6 takes a minimalist approach similar to Tesla’s cabin design. The dashboard is dominated by a 12.9-inch central touchscreen that controls most functions. Instead of a traditional instrument cluster, VinFast has equipped it with a head-up display that shows key driving information.

Other highlights include:

  • Panoramic glass roof
  • Heated & ventilated front seats
  • Soft-touch dashboard materials with silver accents
  • 360-degree camera
  • Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
  • 7 airbags for enhanced safety

Battery & Performance

The VF6 is powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack, supporting fast charging (20–80% in just 30 minutes) via a DC charger. Performance figures depend on the variant:

  • Eco trim: 177 PS & 250 Nm
  • Plus trim: 204 PS & 310 Nm

This makes the VF6 not only efficient for city commutes but also capable on highways.

Exterior Design

The VF7 measures over 4.5 metres in length, giving it a commanding road presence. It gets 19-inch alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, and VinFast’s trademark ‘V’ grille design. At the back, the SUV features sleek connected taillamps with subtle chrome details for a more premium look.

Interior & Comfort

Inside, the VF7 features a dual-tone leatherette cabin with a spacious and sophisticated layout. The dashboard continues the clean design theme, centred around a 12.9-inch infotainment system. The 8-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, and 537-litre boot capacity make it a practical yet luxurious SUV.

  • Wireless smartphone connectivity

The VF7 gets a larger 70.8 kWh battery pack, offered in both FWD and AWD setups.

  • FWD version: Single motor with 201 PS & 310 Nm; claimed range up to 532 km
  • AWD version: Dual motor with 354 PS & 500 Nm; 0–100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds

It also supports 150 kW fast charging, making it convenient for long-distance travel.

Final Word

VinFast has made an ambitious debut in India with the VinFast VF6 and VF7, bringing fresh design, high-end interiors, and strong EV performance to the table. While the VF6 aims at value-seeking compact SUV buyers, the VF7 is for those wanting a more premium, feature-loaded experience.

Their pricing and features make them competitive, but the real test will be in after-sales service, brand trust, and long-term support – factors that matter deeply to Indian car buyers. If VinFast manages to build confidence in these areas, the VF6 and VF7 could carve out a solid space in India’s EV market, much like BYD has done in recent years.
